Impostor Factory is an upcoming adventure game by Freebird Games. It is the third major installment in the Sigmund Corp. series after To the Moon and Finding Paradise. The game is currently slated to release in September 2021 for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux.[1] The game's story is considered to be darker than the previous installments in the series; the developers describe it as "a bonkers time-loop tragicomedy murder mystery thriller featuring multiple casualties and a suspicious cat".[2]

Impostor Factory was first announced on March 9th, 2019 on director Kan Gao's YouTube channel as a title preview video.[3] It was not yet confirmed whether the game would be a part of the Sigmund Corp. series. A second (joke) trailer was released on November 29th, 2019, revealing that the game was slated to release at the end of 2020.[4]

The official trailer was released on August 5th, 2020.[5] It prominently features an unnamed lady in a red dress, presumably the same one featured in the promotional posters. Laura Shigihara, whose vocals were featured in the previous major installments, is noticeably missing from the credits; Kan stated in the Freebird Games Discord server that he thought her voice wasn't suited for the game's darker theme.[6]

In November 2020, Kan Gao announced that the release date was pushed back to spring 2021.[7] It was further delayed per a July 2021 announcement on the game's Steam news page, stating that the game was set to release in September.[8] As of September 1, 2021, the game will be released on the 30th of the same month.[9][1]
